Lamezia Terme International Airport (ICAO: LICA), active since 1976, is located in the southern part of Italy. It handled 2.2 million passengers in 2013. Lamezia airport is connected with scheduled flights to the main Italian airports and to many international airports. Noteworthy is the high volume of charter activity which intensifies during the summer.
In 2010 Lamezia Terme Airport underwent major upgrading and modernization works to improve existing airside facilities to enable wide-body operations. Runway length has been extended of 600 m raising a total length of 3.014 m.
